Frequently asked questions.

What makes Aeris candles different from big box candles?

We’re not in the business of beige. Aeris candles are hand-poured in ridiculously small batches, crafted with modern aroma theory, and tested on real humans (the willing kind). No mass production. No microwave-scented shortcuts.

Each candle begins as an idea scribbled at the kitchen table and ends as a hand-poured piece of olfactory art—a blend of science, intuition, and a healthy dose of obsession. We do things the slow way, because that's where the magic lives.

Are Aeris candles non-toxic?

Yes—intentionally so. We don’t do paraffins, phthalates, or mystery additives. Aeris candles are hand-poured using a clean-burning soy wax blend and high-quality fragrance oils that are free from known toxins. No headaches, no harsh chemicals—just consciously crafted scents that elevate your space without polluting it.

Are your candles really hand-poured?

Yes. By real hands. Often with a little music in the background and maybe a dog under the table. From wick to wax, we pour, label, and package every candle ourselves in our Shelbyville, Indiana home.

Are Aeris candles pet-safe?

Yes! Our candles are made with clean-burning ingredients and free of the nasty stuff (like phthalates or paraffin) that can irritate pets. That said, always burn responsibly—don’t leave a flame unattended with curious paws nearby.

How long do your candles burn?

Roughly 40–50 hours for our standard 8oz jars—though results may vary depending on your burning habits. (Pro tip: trim your wick and let the wax pool fully before snuffing it out. Your candle will thank you.)

Do your candles work on candle warmers?

They do indeed. Our wax releases fragrance beautifully with the gentle heat of a warmer, no flame required. It’s a great option for dorms, offices, or anywhere you’d like scent without fire.

Where do you ship, and how much does it cost?

We currently ship anywhere in the U.S. and charge a single flat fee of $5. That’s the cheapest shipping you’ll find anywhere (except Amazon...) If you know the owners and would like it hand delivered for free, we do that too. (Just select ‘Local Delivery’ in the drop down menu.)

Can I reuse the candle jars?

Please do! Our jars make excellent homes for Q-tips, tiny plants, loose change, or an impressive paperclip collection. Just clean out the wax with warm water and a little soap, and repurpose to your heart’s content.

Do you offer returns or exchanges?

We want you to be thrilled. If something arrives broken or isn’t quite right, reach out to us at aeriscandlecompany@gmail.com and we’ll make it right. That said, because our products are hand-crafted, we don’t currently accept returns on used candles.

How should I care for my candle for the best burn?

Trim your wick to ¼ inch before each burn, let the wax melt fully to the edge (especially on first light), and never burn for more than 4 hours at a time. Basically: treat it like a tiny open flame that deserves respect. Because it is.

Do you take custom scent requests or collaborations?

We love creative ideas! If you’ve got a scent concept or want to collaborate, shoot us an email. We can’t promise we’ll make your “campfire and croissant” dream a reality, but we’ll certainly try.

What is everyone else doing?

You’ve smelled these before. Everywhere. And that’s kind of the problem.

  1. Vanilla & Lavender
Sweet, sleepy, and the unofficial scent of yoga studios, massage chairs, and “self-care” kits in big box stores.

  2. Citrus & Sage
Bright and vaguely herbal. Marketed as “clean,” smells like kitchen spray. Almost always forgettable.

  3. Eucalyptus & Mint
Spa-core royalty. Feels fresh, smells cold, and shows up in every “relax” candle ever made.

  4. Pumpkin Spice
The scent that launched a thousand clichés. Clove. Cinnamon. Nostalgia. Over it.

  5. Mahogany & Teakwood
Trying really hard to smell like an old-money study. Actually smells like gym bro cologne in a wood-paneled room.

  6. Coconut & Lime
Tropical with training wheels. The default “beach” scent when no one wants to take a creative risk.

  7. Rose & Sandalwood
A powdery floral wrapped in a “modern” label. Smells like every boutique hotel soap.

  8. Lemon Verbena
Zingy, bright, and indistinguishable from lemon-scented floor cleaner. Spring in a bottle—or a mop bucket.

  9. Amber & Musk
Warm, soft, and painfully safe. The olfactory equivalent of beige knitwear.

  10. Jasmine & Green Tea
Delicate, polite, and everywhere. The scent of wellness brands that don’t want to offend anyone.

You won’t find any of those here. We craft original, layered blends meant to surprise your nose—not put it to sleep. We intentionally avoid the conventional.

Every Aeris scent is built from the ground up to be distinctive, modern, and unforgettable.
